pottery & Sculpture
SEVENTH GRADE
Pottery and Sculpture is offered to 7th and 8th graders as an 18 week/semester elective. The primary focus of this class is to expose students to the various methods for creating small 3 dimensional works of art using various techniques. The items created may be functional or purely decorative.
Some art history is included as a way to encourage student's appreciation for art throughout history, from other cultures, and to help them realize the importance of art in our everyday lives.
Grades are based on daily participation, planning, homework, and projects. Artistic talent is not a prerequisite for this class nor is it a guarantee of a higher grade. The student’s willingness to experience and acquire new skills, along with good work habits is the best indicator of grade outcome.
